Eric Metzler a month agoI'm in my 60s and without skin problems for over 30 years, so it was a surprise to get a severe itchy rash around Christmas. A steroid shot from my PCP NP helped temporarily, but I wanted a specialist opinion. In early April, after calling maybe 5 other offices in ABQ and being stymied by things like "we only take confirmed cancer cases" or "we don't take any new Medicare patients" or "we are booking in August, you have to call in May when the schedule opens up," Dermatology of NM had an opening with one of their doctors in 14 days! Under traditional Medicare, they did not a referral for me to be seen. There was an online portal so I could start my chart with them in advance. I drove the 150 miles with plans to stay in a motel after my appointment before returning home the next day. I found the office conveniently located downtown, spacious and tidy with large landscape artwork on the walls. There were several pages of forms including detailed medical and dermatology history to complete. Dr. Suraj Reddy examined me, took a shave biopsy and ordered lab work. He ordered prescriptions for pills and an ointment and gave advice for OTC medications and skin care. I was able to leave 11 minutes after my appointment time was supposed to start! I found a Tricore lab draw office and was able to view my test results the next day; the biopsy was available to review a few days later and one of the office staff called me promptly to review the (reassuring) results. Most importantly, my rash is better and I know what to do to keep it under control. Finally, after 3 weeks have passed, Medicare and Mutual of Omaha have processed my bill for the visit. I expect the clinic will send me a bill for me to pay part of my Medicare annual deductible to them soon. After 16 years of hearing how hard it is to see a dermatologist quickly in the Albuquerque area, I was very pleased by this experience with an "available, affable, and able" medical practice.
Shalini Singh 3 months agoWould recommend anyone else but them. I think a reboot of Hippocratic oath is what is needed. Really a bully and egoistic approach to practicing medicine. But values can’t be taught .. refused an appointment for an urgent issue because a min late. Try and reason that if that is your approach I would rather never have them as my physicians. Learn to have some empathy. I would not even have one star if possible but without that I can’t post the review.
Scott Adams 3 months agoThis place is a joke. I had an appointment booked for weeks, only for them to cancel at the last minute with zero explanation and no attempt to fit me back in. It’s clear they don’t value their patients’ time at all.The scheduling process was highly unprofessional, and the communication regarding the cancellation was non-existent. When discussing my concerns, the staff and medical team seemed dismissive, and the advice provided lacked the depth and professional insight expected from a specialist clinic. It felt as though patient care was not a priority. This experience was very disappointing given the time and effort spent trying to seek professional dermatological help. It is advisable to look for a practice that demonstrates more respect for patient schedules and provides more thorough medical consultations. Please avoid at all costs . In all they suck incompetent folks and its sad that we abq folks get such bad care
Amelia Pond 2 years agoI really liked the PA I saw and had a good in office experience. However, 6 months after my visit I received a bill. I went to pay it and the system was confusing and it looked like I didn’t have a balance. The next letter I got was a collections letter. I wanted to be in good standing with the office so I called and left a voicemail twice to see if I could pay them directly. I explained the whole situation twice and no one called me back. I didn’t really appreciate being sent to collections after one bill (and no other attempts to contact me) and I don’t appreciate that I went out of my way to try to rectify the situation and was dismissed. Unbelievable update. No one ever called me back so I paid the collections bill. Now I have a new bill from the office for the same amount, creating more work for all of us.
Sabrina Strong (shs_1111) 2 years agoMy family has had a very good experience with this clinic. While they definitely are busy and it can take a little while to get an initial appointment, Dr. Suraj Reddy was really great with my Dad and addressed all of our concerns. He remembered him from years ago, and took his time addressing all of his concerns. When we ran into some complications from a skin cancer removal due to my Dad taking blood thinners, I was able to get a nurse on the phone on a Saturday who was able to address all of our concerns and let us know this was normal, and gave us thorough wound care instructions. She even followed up on Monday to see how things were going. When the same wound finally pushed out a dissolvable stitch a month later, and I made yet another anxious phone call, someone returned my call promptly and yet again reassured us that this was completely normal. And indeed after that, the wound closed up completely. I take my parents to a lot of appointments, and we run into a fair amount of complications along the way, and this is by far the easiest, most efficient, and responsive practice we deal with.
