I visited this clinic last year. I wanted to inquire about a mole under my eye area that I wanted to remove. The office is really clean and nice - but they were extremely unhelpful... or able to make me understand any of their procedures. The assistant told me that the person who usually does mole removals was out on leave until Spring (months later). All they did was measure my mole. I asked how I could set up an appointment to see the doctor and they said they could contact me later. ' They never contacted me. I also had to pay $200 out of pocket just for them to tell me they'll contact me again later and to just measure my mole. It was like a 5 minute ordeal. I guess the $200 is their consultation fee, which honestly. For that amount of money I would have expected more. I don't think anyone there took me seriously at all. No one even explained to me how the typical process would look like. I was really disappointed. I just paid the $200 and left. I wouldn't return.

I went twice and probably won't be back--the first appointment I had was fine (if a little long, but it's an intake appointment so that's reasonable). My second appointment, I waited over an hour past my appointment time without any explanation. My provider breezed in, said nothing about her tardiness, then left. I was so angry at how long I waited but was still willing to give it another shot--however, I think my provider rushed my botox appointment and the effects didn't last nearly as long as it has in the past (I've been doing botox for years). It's tough to find good providers and I was sufficiently impressed the first time but the second visit left such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't think I want to return. The support staff are all really lovely and kind however!

Don't believe the Internet reviews regarding the clinics willingness to work with insurance or their LGBTQ friendly providers. I did a lot of research to identify a provider that accepted Blue Cross Open Access insurance, had experience treating HIV-lipoatrophy, and had positive patient reviews. Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology met all of the requirements and even though they are a tier 2 provider with my insurance plan I was willing to pay the higher coinsurance because of their Sculptra experience. I walked into my appointment this morning excited and looking forward to meet with their team. I left the appointment feeling shunned and lied to. Once Dr Jacob heard that I wanted to bill the treatment through my insurance due to HIV she immediately tried to offload me to the resident's over at Cook County Hospital. I became a second class citizen in her eyes. Her body language changed, she slid her chair back ever so slightly and she said she'd have to check with some of the residents she knows from someplace else because they would likely know more about what Cook County Hospital can do for HIV patients. It felt like I was transported back to the 80's when there was still a stigma to being gay and having HIV. I was shocked and highly offended. Keep in mind that I'm a gay man in my 50's. This kind of thing has never bothered me. I, like 99% of the population, let go of all of my hangups decades ago. I guess that's why I was so caught off guard and offended by the way I was treated today. Being gay is a small part of who I am. I'm not an activist, you won't find me at a rally and I'm not easily offended. Today's experience was so bad I felt like I needed to write this review to encourage Dr Jacob and her staff to do some self reflection and to let others know what they may be walking into. The reason I'm giving a 2 star review and not a 1 star is because Kristen V, the Cosmetic Concierge that worked with me during the visit was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable and was willing to answer any questions I had. She was the one saving grace to what was an otherwise demeaning experience.

Dr Jacob was extremely knowledgeable. She immediately diagnosed me, gave me important background information, and came up with a treatment plan that fit the care we agreed on. She was on time and very pleasant as well, and I will not be going anywhere else now that I have established with her.

Botched my face! I tried to upload photos, but Google’s content filters seem to hide my review when I do. That’s how gnarly my lip looked after I went to Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology. I came to the clinic last year for a minor excision after a facial injury left something lodged in my lip. The surgeon assured me I would look better than before. Instead, the procedure left me with significant volume loss and a visible dent, suggesting a proper layered closure was not performed. When I raised concerns, the clinic told me my result looked good but they could correct it with filler. That made things substantially worse. I was left with hard, uneven, visibly lumpy lips. Despite this, multiple practitioners praised the results, dismissed my concerns and insisted nothing was wrong. When I pressed the issue, Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology then ghosted me for over a month (suddenly ignoring all portal messages and failing to return phone calls). I only received a response after finally reaching a manager, who offered no real apology but at least issued a refund for the filler. I am still living with the damage a year later, and other providers have told me I will likely require plastic surgery. The lack of care and accountability from Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology is appalling.
