Alison McCombs 2 months agoPariser has been my dermatology office of choice for many years now. I've seen them in Norfolk, Chesapeake and VA Beach. This location in Virginia Beach used to be right by my old house, I still come here now and see PA Melissa Alcox whenever I can but, she is highly regarded and it's difficult to get in to see her in a timely manner, she is ALWAYS booked solid for months on end. She is wonderful if you can get in with her. I have had several moles removed and did the small laser pen on a bunch of skin tags after the birth of my daughter with Melissa who is efficient and very good at getting a near perfect cosmetic outcome. Office manager is wonderful and front staff are helpful. I love their online platform for booking appointments and paying bills.
Kathy Vargas 4 months agoI’ve been a patient of PA Melissa Alcox for years. She is great at her job. I primarily see her for skin checks and on occasion other skin concerns. Here’s my brief overview of her interactions with me over the years since I should’ve posted this a long time ago. *she’s very thorough and asks great questions *she’s kind and always makes me feel comfortable *she’s smart and I trust her judgment as she’s been very accurate with my treatment and mole removals. *she LISTENS!! Thanks!
Sheila Sheppard Vera 6 months agoThe staff are very professional and courteous, and I'm sure good at what they do. However the practice's policies are on the rigid side and that is not always realistic for a working mom, so the practice is not a good fit for me. I took a wrong turn and got stuck in traffic, missing my daughter's appointment window by a small margin even though I had already checked in remotely 20 minutes before the appointment time, and called. They were not able to fit me in that day because the student provider had already left for the day (at 2:30!). I completely respect that it is their right to manage their practice however they see fit and enforce whatever policies they deem necessary. However, I have enjoyed going to other healthcare providers who have a slightly more flexible approach to appointments that is more realistic and less stressful for most busy working people and parents. After two unlucky attempts to get my daughter seen at Pariser Dermatology, missing school and work and traveling a total of 4 hours to pursue this medical care, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. CHKD Dermatology also takes my daughter's insurance, which Pariser Dermatology does not, and is in a more convenient location at Town Center, so it ends up being fine for us to switch. The Norfolk location for Pariser is in an extremely high traffic area with very long red lights; if I had known this, I would have added 15 minutes to my GPS directions as an additional buffer. Again, I'm sure they do a great job, and they came highly recommended to me, so I was disappointed to not be able to receive their care. Hopefully, my review helps other people who may need slightly more flexible policies.
Terri Dray 6 months agoThe worst experience I’ve ever encountered with a doctor I went because I have been experiencing a bad rash all of my scalp and my back. As soon as she entered the room, she was rude. She did not look at my back. She wanted to see the pictures I had on my phone. She barely looked at my scalp. She didn’t use the magnifying tool that most Dermatologist used when they’re looking at skin/scalp for some kind of infection or such.. She says that my rash on my back and my scalp is part of the aging process. I’ve never dealt with such a non compassionate doctor ever. She was rude and very condescending. . I felt as if I was being rushed out of the Examining room if you want to call it that because she definitely did not examine me. She acted as if she was so much better than me. She’s And the wrong type business if you’re gonna be a doctor and talk with people, you need to learn to be a little nicer and compassionate. The doctor said she was gonna call me and prescription for two items I believe and usually they would do that like right then on the computer so I assume she’s just not gonna do that either. That was three hours ago when I was there. And they’re not on my Cvs app as a new prescription. But somehow, I’m not surprised
Beverly Moody 4 months agoVery disappointed. Honestly it did take me a while to feel empowered enough to share a review but I think I might as well. This incident happened to me in 2023 but it still affects me to this day. I mistakenly posted this under the wrong location, so I am posting it under the location I went to. The Virginia Beach practice made me feel so uncomfortable and insecure I didn’t feel I could advocate for myself at the time. So much so I didn’t want to say anything when they handed me, a black woman, a tube labeled “skin bleaching cream.” Yes I understand hydroquinone is the appropriate treatment for hyperpigmentation, but I don’t understand why when I compared my bottle to the other bottles my friends who aren’t of color received from the same practice, same location, and/or other practices not affiliated with Pariser, why theirs didn’t say “skin bleaching cream.” I only kept the tube as a reminder to advocate for myself. I hope they don’t still treat their patients of color this way and but I absolutely have told anyone who asks for derm recommendations this story.
