Google Reviews
Tiffany Koh 3 weeks agoUPDATE: the doctor changed the website to explicitly explain the charges that were previously obfuscated after this review was posted (attached in teal from the site now). I have a screenshot before he changed the terms of service thanks to internet archives (attached in black & white). Still awaiting an email to say he has removed my credit card from their system that was promised by the front desk. But instead of doing that he changed his website to cover his ass Hidden charges all over the place. A review was written 6 days ago that I 100% believe despite the PR response. I booked and paid for the service and after driving 30 mins - it was disclosed I would need to pay for an entire consultation before the procedure I needed done that would be 150$. The black & white image I attached was the original text (not clear consultation is extra to the services). There is nothing in the confirmation email or website other than fine print that’s not visible when you scroll to this part of the screen of services. The doctor was with “another patient” when I asked to speak to him about this. When I went back to ask if I would be charged a cancellation fee - the front desk person said no. Because I missed the fine print the first time - I looked up their cancellation policy and there is a charge. i asked to have this in writing that I would not be charged and the front desk person said I would receive an email from the doctor himself. Unfortunately he never emailed or showed face because he was with 2 different “patients” at the time of my appointment. Wasted 2 hours
Gary Lindahl 5 months agoStaff is very accommodating and cordial. All of the staff attend to patient needs. Dr. Straight is very friendly and attentive. And she is willing to talk with the patient while paying attention to the procedure she is performing. I found that very relaxing especially when the subject was Big Bend National Park.
Dan Watson a month agoPatients beware of billing surprises! These are nice people who work for Pure Dermatology. The problem is in my opinion they are less than honest when disclosing what your visit will cost you. I paid them $180 and they said that was all I owed them period. I asked them several times and told them I didn't want any surprise bills. Now Pure Dermatology has sent me a bill for additional $106.40. They lead me to believe I had paid in full. Then they filed a $272.10 claim against my Medicare account. They never disclosed to me they were filing a claim for an office visit and what the true cost of the visit being charged, which is now $452.10. If they had been honest and explained the actual total charge for the visit would be $452.10, I would not have use them. When I went back to Pure Dermatology's office and spoke to the person at the front desk she went in the back of the office and spoke with Dr Chelsey Straight. Chelsey was the doctor that performed the procedure and was told she is part owner in the practice. I waited for over an hour to see her and discuss getting the charge removed. She never gave me the courtesy to come out of her office to discuss. Her staff said she was busy all day when no one was in the waiting room. Does that sound like she cares about her patience? When I was waiting to see Dr Straight, the person at the front desk said she was the lead office person and apologized for not disclosing the additional cost. I signed a paper showing what the cost was $180. There was no other amount on the paper I signed. $272.10 was never disclosed. Do you think this is fair professional treatment? Stay tuned! I don't owe this. I'm going to fight this undisclosed charge. I'll let you know how it turned out. Here is my response to the Doctors response: I've attached the financial agreement you required me to sign. Bullet point two says: "Insurance will not be billed for these services". You never informed me my visit was going to cost me $452.10. By leaving the amount on the second line blank substantiates what I'm saying. You can't just mention something and then turn around and file a claim and say that's a consultation. Do you remember when you came into the room and started to examine me and I told you I was only there to have 9 small bumps removed from my face. I didn't need to be examined because I had been examined by a different Dermatologist approximately 3 months prior. Then in casual conversation You mentioned some blue light procedure and asked me if I wanted you to see if Medicare would pay for it and I said sure. You failed to disclose to me that you where going to charge me $272.10 for that 2 minute casual conversation. Then you billed Medicare without letting me know. In your reply to my review you said multiple members of your team reviewed these charges with me. Yes they did and I asked them repeatedly is this all I owe and they repeatedly replied yes you only owe $180 which I paid. At no time did any person from your office disclose to me that I was going to be responsible for an additional $272.10. I'm not pursuing this because of the money. I'm pursuing this because in my opinion you have been less than honest. I'm filing a complaint with the Texas Attorney Generals Office. I'm also filing a complaint with Medicare regarding your use of code 99204. I'm also filing a complaint through the Texas Medical Board citing deceptive billing practices and professional misrepresentation.

Juli Wehman 5 months agoThis’s was my first visit with Dr Straight and I was very impressed! Everyone from the front desk to the nurse and Dr Straight were so friendly and professional. Rachel (nurse) was very personable and put me at ease right away while prepping me for the biopsy. Dr Straight was vey informative and gentle with her exam. I had the full body scan and a biopsy and was really happy with all aspects of my visit.
