It is not often that I compelled to pen a review about a healthcare experience, but my visit to Dr. Shahan was truly exceptional and deserving of praise. I was able to get scheduled next day, and had a minimal wait time when I arrived at my appointment. Once introduced to Dr. Shahan, I was immediately struck by his incredible balance of professionalism and personal warmth. His thorough examination was accompanied by an in-depth discussion about my concerns. Not once did I feel rushed or dismissed, a common complaint in many clinical visits. I am genuinely grateful for the care received from Dr. Shahan and would unreservedly recommend his service to anyone in need of superior dermatological care.

I have been seeing Dr. Shahan for the past 6 years for my general 6 month skin check ups and several dermatology procedures. His office staff and medical assistants are friendly, efficient and very helpful. He has several office locations, I go to the office by San Diego State University right off the 8 freeway so easy to get to and can park right outside his office door, making my visit extremely convenient. I saw him yesterday for a small dark spot on my ear, he did a biopsy in the office, sent to lab same day and the next day I received a call on the biopsy status and date next week for minor procedure. I appreciate his attention to detail, sense of urgency, prompt follow-up and communication skills. He also values my time which I appreciate. As a patient and a consumer we all have numerous choices when seeking health care. I have been extremely satisfied with the health care and service of Dr. Shahan and his staff. Thank you Mark

I have been using Dr Shahan's services for a number of years now. He is courteous, friendly and professional all in one! I recently had a weird growth on my arm. Unable to meet the first available appointment, his office found time to squeeze me in the day I called. The ugly bump turned out to be a form of skin cancer that was sampled, evaluated and removed the following week. His staff are also top notch and caring. You won't go wrong using his services!

My mom has been a patient of this doctor for years and has had numerous skin cancer surgeries from him. However, on 6/1/22 she was scheduled for a skin cancer removal from her nose area that should have lasted approx 1 hour. The skin cancer was much worse than anticipated and the surgery took more than 3 hours. I understand that the doctor was only doing what he thought was best in trying to fully remove all of the skin cancer, my problem is the care that my mother received during and after the process. Two hours into the process I tried to check on my mom, the staff flat out lied to me that everything was fine. When they brought her out, she should have been in a wheelchair as she was so weak and shaky she could barely walk. By the time I got her home, she was in the complete shakes and freezing from the pain and the medication wearing off. She was sent home with no pain meds, no icing regiment to control the swelling and the doctor did not call to check on her for 3 days. My mother had more than 40 stitches to her face and it will take months for the swelling to go down. She will most likely need additional cosmetic procedures as well to correct the extensive surgery. I know this is a very competent doctor but I am just very disappointed in the care that my mother received during this procedure.
